Principles of Practice Workshop Series at Karma Yoga Center February 18 & 19, 2023
Join Liz Terry as we explore the depths of standing poses in the asana practice. In this 4 part workshop series we’ll begin the workshop journeying into the bio mechanics of the blueprint of all standing poses- Tadasana. Once we gain an inner-standing of Tadasana, we’ll dive into Surya Namaskara A. We’ll first navigate through the anatomy of the feet and the spine in order to gain a visual understanding of what the body is doing. Once the blueprint of Tadasana is understood, we’ll take similar principles and see how it translates into Surya Namaskara A.
We’ll break down the movements, look at differences in each person’s body in the workshop so you can see how making small shifts and changes can bring the pose into your body rather than the other way around. We’ll also look at different variations of each pose so you’re able to experience which variation works best for you.
So why join? The asana practice is a beautiful aspect of the yogic path. We live in our bodies. The purpose of the movement practice is to support the spine in preparation for meditation. What better way to use the asana practice to take yourself deeper into the practice you love?
We will be using Yoga Tune Up massage balls in order to explore our anatomy. You’re welcome to purchase your balls to keep for an additional $20.

What this weekend is all about:
We’ll gather on Friday evening to laugh, hug, chat & get to know each other whilst we prepare for a cacao medicine ceremony.
Cacao Medicine Ceremony:
Cacao ceremonies have actually been around for thousands of years, originating all the way back to Mayan and Aztec traditions in Central and South America, used for spiritual, medicinal and ceremonial purposes for inner awakening and creative guidance. Pure cacao is used as a heart opening medicine for people to safely experience awakening, revelation and inner healing. Cacao is used in a sacred medicinal ritual, where intentions are set and once consumed, euphoric states are unlocked, negative emotions are released and we are able to connect to ourselves and the loving energy in our body.
Saturday we will wake up with breakfast and Yoga, breath work and meditation in order to prepare for the focus of our retreat- a therapeutic facilitated journey led by Kori.
Sunday is focused around integration. We’ll eat together, have conversations about what was experienced the night before, and finish with a yoga practice to get you into your body before heading out from the retreat.
Kori and I are working on finding the most beautiful space for this event we’re so passionate about. Because this is an intimate group and we have limited space, we’re reaching out to you to see if you’re interested in joining us for this weekend of profound healing.
Please respond to this message if this is something you’d be interested in joining. This is a very special event and an intense healing weekend. We’d love to have you. We’re able to hold space for up to ten people only and we have a few spots left.
With love,
Liz Terry

Kori Strobl has taught yoga since 2003, leading teacher trainings, workshops, and retreats internationally and at home. As a passionate student of meditation, breathwork, yoga philosophy, and psychology, in 2008, she received a MA in Spiritual Psychology. Since then, she has guided individuals privately and in groups to access their Higher Self and apply its unconditional and nurturing qualities to healing the self that frequently feels small, scared, and isolated. She values humor and depth, which naturally comes through in her work.
Kori has always held plant medicine as sacred, a gift from the Earth to help us remember our True nature. Facilitating sacred ceremonies and integration is a powerful part of her offerings. She works with the medicine to carefully cultivate a unique journey that can activate deeper connection, expansion, and healing that last long after the peak of the experience.

During this week, we take time to go into deep peace.
How do we experience deep peace?
- Through breathwork
- Grounding with nature by swimming or snorkeling in the ocean
- Walks along the beaches
- Connect with like-minded beautiful souls in community
- Start each day with flow yoga, end each day with Yin Yoga which is a deep stretch class
- Eat healthy food
- Learn accessible techniques on how you can take better care of yourself when you head back home to your routine
Disconnect from the busy pace of things we will learn to honor our bodies and heal our nervous
systems.
How do we heal our nervous systems?
- By giving yourself a much needed break from your busy life, your nervous system has an
opportunity to catch up. - Through movement, breathwork and nature our nervous systems begin to down- regulate. When our nervous systems down-regulate the cloudiness of our body’s intelligence begins to clear.
- Our nervous system is a main driver in how we feel on a daily basis. When you give your nervous system a break from stress and daily busy-ness, opportunities in life start to open up.
You will leave feeling calm, hopeful, and with the “grounded, yet uplifted” feeling you have been searching for.
Michelle is a Yoga Therapist, a Thai Bodyworker, a Nerve and Artery specialist and a Board Certified Structural Integrator in the lineage of Ida Rolf. It was through these complementary practices of wellness that she healed her body – and from there Orthopedic Yoga Therapy was born.
These days she trains teachers and students to find a fluid pattern of movement that protects and nourishes the joints while stretching the muscles and connective tissue and quieting the mind. She is the owner of Sanctuary Wellness Studios, Director of Orthopedic Yoga and Transformational Yoga Therapy and founder of Equilibrium, a non-profit dedicated to bringing breath, movement and nutrition education to young people with anxiety and mood disorders.
It took an open heart and a willingness to jump in feet first to surrender to her inner guidance, and when the time was right Liz did just that.
Liz Terry is an eRYT500 Vinyasa & Yin yoga teacher as well as a Yogaworks Teacher Trainer and Certified Rolfer®.
Over a decade ago, Liz caught a bit of wanderlust and has been traveling, teaching yoga from the Middle East, to Bali, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and in her home state of Colorado. She studied with YogaWorks receiving her 200hr certification in California in 2008. With the world-renowned Michel Besnard in Thailand for her 300hr TT in 2011, and has continued her education with Jill Miller & Yoga Tune Up®, with Osteopath Joe Musculino, and so much more.
Liz is a graduate of the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute of Structural Integration as of 2019. Combining yoga and Rolfing™ has been an incredible adventure and one Liz is excited to share.
What she’s learned from her teachers and students from being abroad goes beyond what being on the mat has taught her. Liz continues to enhance her teaching by practicing all types of movement from yoga to studying from Ido Portal, to CrossFit, running & Yoga Tune Up etc. Her classes challenge the idea of what asana is, allowing her students to explore and empower themselves by learning what their bodies and minds can do.
